Patrick Mahomes Turns Heads With Personal Gesture on Wednesday

Even though Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes left Texas Tech in 2017 to enter the NFL draft, he still has so much love for his previous university.

He joined the Red Raiders as a freshman as a backup for Davis Webb. By his sophomore season, Mahomes was the starting quarterback for Texas Tech. In January 2017, he announced that he was going to forgo his senior year to enter the draft. Though Texas Tech didn’t achieve major success during his time, Mahomes still became one of the most talked-about quarterback prospects.

On Wednesday, right before Texas Tech's softball team played its first game in the 2025 Women's College World Series (WCWS) championship series against the University of Texas, the girls were gifted custom bomber jackets and new Adidas shoes from Mahomes.

The official Instagram account of the softball team posted their reactions to receiving their jackets and shoes before the game on Wednesday afternoon.

"Game recognize game ⏰💪🐐," Texas Tech wrote in their caption.

Then on Wednesday, the quarterback shared this post from Just Women Sports, which announced the news of Mahomes' gift, on his Instagram story.
