As teams continue to tweak their rosters ahead of training camp, a former Pittsburgh Steelers linebacker has a new old home.
On Wednesday, Ian Rapoport reported on X that the Los Angeles Chargers have signed Bud Dupree to a one-year, $6 million deal.
The 32-year-old is a former first-round pick by Pittsburgh in the 2015 NFL Draft. He spent six seasons with the Steelers, posting 231 total tackles with 169 solo and 54 for loss, eight forced fumbles, two fumble recoveries, a pick-6 and 39.5 sacks.
The former Kentucky Wildcat suffered a torn ACL during his final season in Pittsburgh.
Dupree left the Steelers to join the Tennessee Titans on a free agent deal worth $82.5 million over five seasons, but was released after two years. He was limited to just 22 games and was released.
The Atlanta Falcons then took a shot with Dupree in 2023 where he played 16 games and posted 39 tackles with 17 solo and eight for loss, two forced fumbles and three. passes defended with 6.5 sacks.
Prior to the 2024 season, Dupree signed with the Los Angeles Chargers and then-new head coach Jim Harbaugh. He played in all 17 games and posted 28 tackles with 18 solo and six for loss, 10 QB hits, six sacks, two passes defended and one. forced funble.
It was enough for the team to bring him back to a room that had just lost Joey Bosa to free agency and the Buffalo Bills.
