Once upon a time, Tre'Davious White was one of the best cornerbacks on the Buffalo Bills, and also across the NFL. The former All-Pro was a lockdown corner in his prime, and helped the Bills achieve AFC supremacy through the years.
Injuries caught up with the LSU product, though. ... and he moved on.
But ...
After a few seasons away from the organization, White is back in Western New York.
The free agent signed a one-year deal with the Bills to return to the team. Now back with the franchise that drafted him, White is ready to learn - or re-learn - whatever system as needed so he can again be a key piece of the puzzle.
During his press conference on Tuesday at OTAs, the returning White explained why it wasn't very difficult to readjust to head coach Sean McDermott's defensive system.
"It was easy to get back in," White said. "The verbiage is still the same. [There are] little differences in some of the techniques we did when I was here the first time. But as far as catching back up, I 90% knew how to do everything. The extra 10% was just different techniques that we do with some of the coverages."
White will be competing for a roster spot this season to play opposite of Christian Benford. To get a starting role, he will have to beat out first-round rookie cornerback Maxwell Hairston.
He understands that. But even as the Bills look to get younger as a defensive unit, he isn't ready to give up his old spot just yet.
