Pedro Neto starts as Portugal beat Germany to advance to UEFA Nations League final

Pedro Neto got the start and played all but the last few minutes of Portugal’s 2-1 win over Germany last night in the UEFA Nations League semifinal, setting up a potential showdown against Spain and Marc Cucurella in Sunday’s final (Spain will have beat France first on Thursday of course).

Neto did not manage to get on the scoresheet, but really should’ve picked up at least one assist, with Cristiano Ronaldo failing to finish off a lovely cutback at the end of a typical burst forward from the Chelsea winger early on in the game.

Germany made Portugal pay for their missed chances by taking the lead early in the second half, but substitute Francisco Conceição (son of the former great, Sérgio Conceição) turned the game back in Portugal’s favor. He scored one but could’ve easily had a hat-trick with just a tiny bit more luck.

João Félix and Renato Veiga were not called on by manager Roberto Martínez, and so just watched the game from the bench. Decent seats at least!
