Suns hire Cavs assistant Jordan Ott as new head coach

Ott becomes the fourth different head coach for Phoenix in the past four seasons, looking to take the franchise back to the postseason

PHOENIX. Ariz. (KYMA, KECY) - The Phoenix Suns have hired Cleveland Cavaliers assistant Jordan Ott as their newest head coach.

Ott has been coaching in the NBA as an assistant since 2012, first coming into the league with the Atlanta Hawks in 2012.

Prior to his time in Georgia, Ott was also a video coordinator at Michigan State under men's basketball head coach Tom Izzo.

Michigan State is also the alma mater of Suns owner Matt Ishbia, who is hoping for a much better year in 2026 after missing the playoffs this past season.

The next big domino to fall for the franchise will likely be a decision on where to trade star forward Kevin Durant, after it's been reported the two sides are nearing a split.
