Fabrizio Romano: Man Utd submit formal offer to sign "insane" £70m star

Manchester United have submitted an initial offer worth £45m plus £10m in add-ons for Brentford forward Bryan Mbeumo, journalist Fabrizio Romano has revealed.

The Red Devils have reportedly opened negotiations for the 'insane' Cameroonian forward as they look to add another attacker alongside former Wolves star Matheus Cunha, who joined on a five-year deal last week.

Brentford’s valuation of Mbeumo is similar to what United paid for Cunha, with Romano suggesting the Bees are seeking around £70m but remain open to negotiations.

Mbeumo is believed to be prioritising a summer move to Old Trafford, despite interest from several Premier League clubs, including Newcastle and Arsenal.

The 25-year-old forward is coming off a career-best season in the English top flight, having recorded 20 goals and eight assists in 38 appearances.

The ex-Troyes forward is expected to leave Brentford this summer, with just over a year remaining on his contract, although the Bees hold an option to extend it by a further season.

Man United are believed to have identified Mbeumo as another potential signing to operate behind the striker next season, alongside Cunha, who became their first summer signing last week.

The Red Devils are expected to make two further additions to their frontline, as they continue their search for a new number nine.

After missing out on Chelsea-bound Liam Delap, reports suggest United have been offered the chance to sign Paris Saint-Germain star Goncalo Ramos.
