Liverpool have already been active in the transfer window as Arne Slot looks to strengthen his squad for the defence of the Premier League title in 2025/26. The window has been open for a matter of days, but the Reds have already completed some business.

The club have confirmed the capture of full-back Jeremie Frimpong from Bayer Leverkusen. The transfer will see Liverpool pay a fee of £29.5 million, with the player signing a five-year deal at Anfield.

But Liverpool are definitely not done there. Deals over other potential incomings are being worked on with the club set to back Slot in the window.

There has been a lot of links and talks over possible comings and goings. So, the ECHO have taken a look at a couple of stories doing the rounds over the last 24 hours.

Florian Wirtz message

Liverpool target Florian Wirtz was in action for Germany while talks continue over a possible move to Anfield this summer. The winger was named in the starting line-up for his national team in the UEFA Nations League clash against Portugal.

He sent a clear message over why Liverpool have targeted him, scoring Germay’s opening goal just a few minutes after half time. Portugal however scored two of their own later in the half with the full-time score ending in a 2-1 reversal.

Liverpool recently had a £109 million bid rejected for Wirtz, with Leverkusen said to be demanding a fee of £125 million. There is a confidence within the Liverpool camp that a deal can be done over the next few days.

Milos Kerkez transfer domino

Another player Liverpool are in talks over is Bournemouth left-back Milos Kerkez. There is again said to be confidence that a deal can be done, with Liverpool expected to pay a fee of between £45 million and £50 million for the Hungarian international.

Kerkez has been one of the standout left-backs in the Premier League this season, and he sent a hint on his future with a recent Instagram post that said: “I don’t know what will happen in the next few weeks but Cherries family thank you!”

If Liverpool are able to get a deal done for Kerkez, it makes it likely that one of their current left-backs will move on this summer. Kostas Tsimikas seems the most likely option, with the Greece international linked to Leeds United.

There is however also questions over the future of fellow left-back Andy Robertson, who is likely to fall behind Kerkez in the pecking order.
