"His medical is booked" - Liverpool now aim to sign "crazy" star by end of the week - journalist

Liverpool have agreed a £40m deal to sign Bournemouth full-back Milos Kerkez, journalist Graeme Bailey has revealed.

The Premier League winners have reportedly reached a breakthrough in talks for the Hungary international, with a feeling that a deal could be completed by the weekend.

Bailey claims Liverpool have agreed all aspects of Kerkez’s transfer to Anfield, with his medical already booked and hopes the move will be finalised in the coming days.

Bournemouth had initially been holding out for closer to £50m for the 21-year-old defender but have now agreed to accept slightly less for the ‘crazy’ talent.

According to Bailey, Kerkez was approached by several Premier League clubs but made it clear he only wanted to join Liverpool and is now ‘very happy’ to get the deal over the line:

“I’m told that Liverpool have agreed all aspects of a deal for Kerkez – his medical is booked in and they hope the deal will be concluded by this weekend.

“I understand Kerkez is very happy to get the deal done – he was contacted by a handful of rival clubs in the last month, but made it clear he only wanted to join Liverpool.”

Kerkez has developed into one of the Premier League’s best left-backs during his two seasons at Bournemouth and is likely to arrive as a long-term replacement for Andy Robertson.

The Scotland international turned 31 in March and has just over a year remaining on his contract, which runs until June 2026.

Liverpool have already announced Jeremie Frimpong as their first summer signing and are now working towards a deal for his Bayer Leverkusen teammate Florian Wirtz.

The Reds have submitted an eye-watering £109m bid for the Germany international, who could soon become the club’s record signing, surpassing the £85m fee paid for Darwin Nunez in 2022.
