Arsenal have confirmed talks to sign up£150k-a-weeek midfielder

ARSENAL have confirmed they are in discussions with Thomas Partey over extending his contract, which runs out at the end of this month.

Partey’s current deal is due to expire in 2025 and discussions over a possible extension at the Emirates did not happen over the summer as many believed that he would get that move away from the Premier League giants.

The Ghana international was limited in his starts for the club last season because of injury, and there were mane reports that Arsenal were deciding whether to cash in on the player in the summer or risk losing him on a free transfer in just over a few weeks time.

But according to reports – after deciding to keep Partey at the club during the summer window, talks were opened over a new contract a few weeks ago and talks are still progressing before the opening of the January window.

He is expected to be offered a two-year contract extension, which would keep him at the Emirates until the age of 33. Mikel Arteta and his coaching staff are reportedly strong supporters of Partey and are eager to keep him as a key part of their squad as they continue to challenge for Premier League success.

Raheem Sterling and Neto will return leave Arsenal and to their parent clubs at the end of their loans.

Kieran Tierney, as expected, is on the departures list at Arsenal with his contract up at the end of the month.

When Partey is fit – he is a very solid addition to that squad – but he is never fit anymore and ARSENAL need to get rid.

It is a shock to see that Arsenal are in talks over a new deal, especially as they are reportedly closing in on a deal to sign Martin Zubimendi
