West Ham have revealed this morning that Mohammed Kudus’s sole deciding factor when choosing his next club is Champions League football.
Claret & Hugh spoke to a source very close to the negotiations following a report from TBR Football last night which claimed Kudus had refused a move to Saudi Arabia because he was holding out for a Premier League switch. However, we’re happy to set the record straight. “That’s not exactly right — he [Kudus] wants Champions League football rather than specifically EPL” our source clarified.
This revelation offers a glimmer of hope that West Ham could spark a bidding war between European clubs who’ve qualified for the competition. Whilst the news does open up the bidding slightly, it does mean that cash-rich Saudi Pro League clubs won’t be considered by the player.
Realistically, the main English contenders for Kudus’s signature would be Arsenal, Chelsea, Newcastle United and — dare I say it — Tottenham Hotspur… he wouldn’t, would he?
