Report: Wolves green light £17m move for 'fabulous' La Liga star, he could help replace Matheus …

Replacing Matheus Cunha will be no easy task this summer. Wolves though, seem to have someone in mind.

Cunha’s move to Old Trafford will leave a gaping hole in the Molineux frontline – one that Vitor Pereira will be eager to fill during the window.

Mix the Brazilian’s departure with Pablo Sarabia’s contract exit, Wolves are now in desperate need of attacking reinforcements.

With this in mind, it seems like Wolves have earmarked a certain La Liga star to fill the void this summer.

Wolves eyeing move for Christantus Uche

Wolves’ interest in Roger Fernandes suggests Fosun recognise the problem at hand. Fernandes though isn’t the only attacker on the club’s radar.

According to Spanish outlet Marca, the Molineux outfit are reportedly eyeing up a move for Getafe attacker Christantus Uche.

The 22-year-old’s impressive La Liga performances have seemingly caught the eye of Wolves, as well as the likes of Chelsea, Brentford and Leeds.

The Nigerian international reportedly has a release clause in the region of £21 million, but Getafe are expected to accept lower than that, with Wolves willing to offer £17 million to secure the attacker’s services.

Uche has earned big praise in La Liga

Primarily played as an attacking midfielder, Uche normally tends to operate in the left pocket – a position where Cunha would normally find himself.

The Nigerian has thrived in this position racking up four goals and six assists during his debut campaign in Spain, something which has earned him strong praise from his manager.

Speaking to Infobiwenger back in May, Getafe boss Josa Bordalas reflected on Uche’s impressive season.

“He’s a fabulous kid, we have a lot of affection for him. All players go through a process. He reached professional football without going through any stages, and at times it was difficult for him.

“We tried to help him, and he’s helped us a lot, too. It was a risky gamble; there’s room for improvement, but he’s had a great season.”
