Paul Scholes has argued that one of his former Manchester United teammates was able to do “everything” in his role during his time under Sir Alex Ferguson.
The 50-year-old TNT Sports pundit came through the Manchester United youth academy and spent his entire legendary playing career at Old Trafford.
Paul Scholes was one of the famed ‘Class of ‘92’ stars at United who enjoyed incredible success under former manager Sir Alex Ferguson at the club.
The former England international broke into the United first-team squad in the 1990s and had two separate spells at Old Trafford during his remarkable career.
Scholes was a linchpin midfield influence for Ferguson and the United legend made 716 appearances for the Red Devils and netted 155 times and registered 82 assists.
During his time at Old Trafford, the ex-United and England midfielder lifted 11 Premier Leagues, two Champions Leagues, three FA Cups and two League Cups.

Paul Scholes explains why Man Utd legend Roy Keane excelled as a midfielder during their time under Sir Alex Ferguson at Old Trafford
Paul Scholes, who retired for the final time in 2013, shared a remarkable midfield partnership with fellow Manchester United legend Roy Keane at Old Trafford.
Roy Keane is considered one of the best skippers of all time and the legendary ex-midfielder captained Sir Alex Ferguson’s United side to a famous treble win in 1999.
Despite the incredible praise around his leadership skills, the 53-year-old Irishman’s ability as a dominating midfielder is often overlooked due to his United captaincy.
Speaking on The Overlap alongside Jamie Carragher, Scholes talked up the incredible ability and qualities that Keane possessed as a midfielder in his prime.
“People talk about this ‘number six’ role – the ‘Makelele role,’ he said.
“I think a lot of people see Roy as that, but he was anything but that.
“As a central midfielder for Manchester United, you couldn’t just stay there and let everyone else play.
“You had to be involved in everything. You had to be able to defend, you had to be able to attack.
“He was unbelievable. A running machine but with quality with it.”

Man Utd legend Paul Scholes breaks down what Roy Keane did in his role as a midfielder at Old Trafford
Roy Keane was a commanding box-to-box midfielder in his prime and Scholes compared his former United teammate to legendary ex-captain Bryan Robson.
“He’d do everything,” Scholes added.
“He’d overlap his winger [on] both sides, sprint forward, he sprinted back, he led the team – almost in a Bryan Robson-type way.
“This is why I hate all this, ‘he’s a number eight’, ‘he’s a number six’… it gets on my nerves.
“Especially as a central midfield player, you should be able to do everything. That’s what Roy Keane did.”
Keane’s relationship with former United manager Ferguson fractured at the tail end of his Old Trafford spell and the Irishman left the Premier League club in 2005.
