Everton are preparing for their first full season in David Moyes’ second spell at the club.

There’s a lot of enthusiasm surrounding the Toffees, given their huge improvement in form once Moyes returned to Goodison Park.

The fans will also get to watch the team compete in the brand-new 52,000-seater Hill Dickinson Stadium.

However, preparations for the new season haven’t begun smoothly.

Set-piece coach Charlie Adam is set now seemingly set to leave Everton.

MORE TOFFEES STORIES

Adam was added to the coaching staff shortly after Moyes was appointed as manager.

Before his arrival, there was no coach at the club who specialised in set pieces. Instead, it was a joint effort led by former manager Sean Dyche.

Moyes was buoyed by the arrival of Adam, stating that set pieces was an area that he “excelled in as a player and one I believe he can really help us with now as a coach”.

Yet, it seems that Adam’s time in this role is set to last less than six months, with Training Ground Guru (4 June) reporting he wants to become a manager in his own right again.

If Adam leaves, this would be the second departure from Moyes’ backroom staff this week, after head of recruitment Dan Purdy joined Rangers.

Everton have a lot to be excited about as new season approaches

It’s never ideal to lose members of your backroom staff as you prepare for a new season.

However, Everton manager Moyes will be enthusiastic as he makes preparations for the club’s first campaign in their new stadium.

The Toffees were far from prolific from set pieces in the second half of the season, and they conceded a fair number of goals from set plays as well. It’s an area with room for improvement.

Perhaps this was part of the reason why Adam is reported to be leaving. The reason isn’t clear yet.

Either, Toffees fans won’t hesitate to back Moyes and whatever recruitment decisions are made this summer. Indeed, negotiations are already under way to replace Purdy.

There’s a feel-good factor surrounding the team at the moment, and supporters will hope that translates into a productive transfer window and a quick start to the new Premier League season.
