Simon Jordan has delivered his verdict on Jadon Sancho’s departure from Chelsea, as Aston Villa are said to be interested in the Manchester United forward.

Villa have been linked with Sancho in the wake of his exit from Stamford Bridge.

Chelsea chose not to make Sancho’s loan from Old Trafford permanent and will pay a £5m penalty to opt out of their obligation to buy the 25-year-old.

While Enzo Maresca’s side finished fourth in the Premier League to qualify for next season’s Champions League and also won the Europa Conference League, Sancho’s form was inconsistent.

Discussing Sancho’s situation on talkSPORT, Jordan said: “I mean, I was already assuming they’d be paying the £5m, Chelsea, to Man United because they weren’t going to keep him.

“The reality of it is I don’t know how long he’s got left on his contract, but there’s going to have to be a view taken by everyone because Sancho clearly… I mean he hasn’t set the heavens on fire at Chelsea.

“He’s had a few moments and then all of a sudden people started to whip United because a couple of times at the beginning of the season Sancho looked like he was going to do something.

“But Sancho’s looked like he was going to do something for a long period of time for lots of people, besides Dortmund where he has done something.

“I think he’s one of those that’s got lots of talent and seemingly a view of themselves which other people don’t subscribe to, which is he can do what he wants.”
