Manchester United’s pursuit of Brentford’s Bryan Mbeumo is heating up as The Red Devils make contact with The Bees having submitted their initial offer.

The Cameroon international has had a tremendous season, grabbing 20 goals and 9 assists in 42 games for Brentford.

As such, Mbeumo made it onto both United’s and Newcastle United’s priority shortlist for the summer.

Whilst Newcastle were determined to sign the 25-year-old, his salary demands to increase his wage from £50,000 per week to £250,000 per week were too much for The Magpies.

However, the demand doesn’t seem to be too much for United who have continued contact, as first revealed by CentreDevils.

Manchester United’s pursuit of Bryan Mbeumo

It’s understood that Mbeumo is incredibly keen to move to Old Trafford, with Brentford growing frustrated with how public his desire has become.

Now, United have submitted their first offer of £45 million + £10 million in add-ons for a combined £55 million.

However, this is beneath Brentford’s initial valuation of £60 million, saying his signing would be comparable to that of Matheus Cunha which United have completed for £62.5 million, triggering his release clause.

Now, Fabrizio Romano has reported that Brentford have given a new valuation of their star man, wanting negotiations to start at £70 million.

Whilst United’s initial offer seemed to serve as a strong starting point, being only £15 million as a core fee under Brentford’s valuation, their new asking price increases the gap to £25 million.

However it’s not expected to cause a collapse in United’s pursuit of the 25-year-old seen as they are keen to sign him and he’s wanting a move to Old Trafford despite not having the prospect of European football next season.
