FC Barcelona player on her way to London City Lionesses

Ingrid Engen is no longer a regular starter at FC Barcelona, and despite being offered a new contract, it is highly likely that she will leave the Spanish club. Rumors have linked Engen to several teams, including OL Lyonnes and other Women’s Super League sides. However, according to [Maria Tikas](https://www.sport.es/es/noticias/barca/futbol-femenino/ingrid-engen-apunta-london-city-117355264), the FC Barcelona midfielder is on her way to the London City Lionesses.

Engen’s contract expires this summer, and negotiations over a renewal did not result in a new deal, meaning she will leave Barcelona as a free agent. During the January 2025 transfer window, Engen was also linked with a move to OL Lyonnes, but the club opted to keep her. The decision was likely influenced by the departure of Keira Walsh during that window, as well as injuries within the squad, which created more opportunities for players like Ingrid Engen.

Marc Vivés, the Sporting Director of Women’s Football at Barcelona, was asked about Engen’s contract situation after the club’s victory over Chelsea in the UEFA Women’s Champions League. Vivés stated:

“We have to get used to all our players having offers. It’s a compliment that all the teams in the world want our players.”

Ingrid Engen did not start either leg of the UEFA [Women’s Champions League](https://womenfootball.blog/womens-champions-league/) semi-final against Chelsea, nor did she feature in the starting XI for the entire Spanish Super Cup. However, she did start in the three Liga F matches leading up to the semi-finals, as well as in the two league games that followed. Head coach Pere Romeu often deploys her as a center-back, typically pairing her with either Irene Paredes or Marta Torrejón, but her role has been largely limited to substitute appearances.
