Tyler Morton could be on the move this summer as he looks to go in search of regular football after a hugely frustrating campaign at Liverpool.
Morton became a hugely popular figure last season when he spent the whole 2023/24 campaign on loan at Hull City from Liverpool, playing 41 times for the Tigers under Liam Rosenior as they narrowly missed out on a place in the Championship play-offs.
The dynamic midfielder returned to Anfield last summer, and though there were rumours about him moving away from Merseyside, he stayed with his hometown club but spent the season on the fringes of Arne Slot's Reds.
City's ex-performer played once in the Champions League, and made a couple of appearances in the FA Cup and Carabao Cup, but didn't get a Premier League outing and a shoulder injury brought his campaign to a premature end.
In total, including Premier League 2 and EFL Trophy games, the 22-year-old played just 761 minutes across 11 games. After such a frustrating campaign, it's perhaps understandable that Morton is looking to move on and end an association which began when he arrived at the club's academy at the age of seven.
Middlesbrough made attempts to sign him late in the January transfer window while City also enquired about his availability, but he remained with the Reds before picking up his injury.
Reports on Merseyside now suggest that Morton is keen to leave Anfield this summer, along with central defensive duo Nat Phillips and Rhys Williams. Phillips finished the season on loan at Derby County and scored the winner against City in that crunch MKM Stadium clash at the end of April, while 24-year-old Williams played 33 times on loan at Morecambe, who were relegated to the National League, but didn't feature in the final four games of the season.
Morton remains under contract at the Premier League champions and signed what Liverpool described as a long-term contract in January 2023, though the length of his new deal was not disclosed, but it's understood he will be allowed to leave.
