'I feel like': Dave Edwards has a fascinating Vitor Pereira theory after interviewing him at…

Wolves fans are excited about what the future may hold with Vitor Pereira at the helm – and Dave Edwards is certainly fully behind the Portuguese.

Wanderers finished 16th in the Premier League table in 2024/25, but the second half of the campaign was deemed a big success after Pereira guided the team away from the relegation zone.

Wolves were in a world of trouble at the start of the calendar year.

But Pereira kept Wolves in the top-flight with ease in the end, and people are now looking to the future.

He’s only been here since December, but Vitor Pereira is already a massively popular figure at Molineux.

Wolves fans have especially taken to Pereira for the passion he shows, and how much he has bought into the Wolves project after arriving fairly out of the blue in the middle of the 2024/25 season.

And now, Dave Edwards has shared a theory as to why Pereira is loving his time at the club so much.

It is no secret that Pereira had wanted to manage in the Premier League long before coming to Wolves.

A few years ago he was linked with the Everton job.

And Pereira also recently claimed he even held talks with Chelsea and Arsenal in the past.

But he’s landed at Wolves, and Edwards believes part of the reason he’s doing so well is because he’s putting his all in due to feeling like he ‘owes’ the club.

Edwards – who interviewed Pereira at Compton Park recently – said on the Whole Lotta Wolves YouTube channel: “The biggest positives (he took from the interview) were, two-fold really. One is how much he just loves football. The way he talks about football – I’ve never heard anyone do it with such passion. You can tell it’s all he ever thinks about.

“Every little question we asked him, you would really see his mind ticking and working.

“I feel like he owes Wolves something. I feel like that’s what he’s giving off, that he’s been desperate to be a Premier League manager for so long, that Wolves have given him this opportunity so he’s thinking ‘I have to repay this football club’.

“I think you see that with his relationship with the fans. He’s fully cemented himself in the community, the way he talks about the city and how it’s a one-club city and that makes it easier to connect everyone.

“He understands it, and I think for a foreign manager to do that so quickly, that’s going to give him the upper hand.”

Edwards went on to brand Pereira an ‘elite’ manager.

Pereira appointment couldn’t have worked out better for Wolves

It’s fair to say, eyebrows were raised when Pereira emerged as Gary O’Neil’s successor.

Not a great deal was known about him, and people were left feeling unsure given the fact he had not spent very long at his last few clubs.

But this theory from Edwards makes a lot of sense.

Vitor Pereira’s record as Wolves manager

Games managed – 25

Wins – 12

Draws – 3

Losses – 10

PL points won – 39

We know Pereira has long had his eye on the Premier League and now that he’s here, he’s clearly determined to make a real name for himself.

And that is Wolves’ gain.

Potentially, this manager could actually do special things at Molineux, and supporters would like to hope he’ll bring back the good times which haven’t really been seen since Nuno Espirito Santo was at the helm.
