Report: Tottenham now willing to pay £34m Everton target’s asking price

David Moyes will hope he can convince his planned targets to make the move to Everton over their rivals.

The Friedkin Group are planning a serious overhaul in the squad this season, with Moyes seemingly at the forefront of things.

After the ownership has shown its ambition by making ruthless decisions with Everton players, there is a clear change around the club.

Defenders are an area where Moyes wants plenty of improvement this summer, especially with Jarrad Branthwaite potentially leaving.

This has opened the door to one centre-back who has seriously impressed, but now Tottenham are causing problems for Everton.

Tottenham lead race in signing Everton target Yann Bisseck

Branthwaite will be a major loss to Moyes’ regime, with the 22-year-old proving to be a shining light in a dismal Toffees season.

It was of course Moyes who saved the season and helped these players get back on track, but the sacrifice might have to be made for the English defender.

This is mostly due to Branthwaite’s asking price of £70m, as although this would be a loss, Everton can only spend £50m-£100m, proving that his sale is needed.

With his exit mooted, a replacement will be needed, and Moyes will need to resolve matters quickly with Everton target Yann Bisseck close to determining his future.

InterLive are reporting that Tottenham could be prepared to meet Bisseck’s £34m asking price, with Everton needing to wake up in this saga if they want to sign the 24-year-old.

How Branthwaite and Everton target Bisseck compare

With Spurs now taking the lead in the race for the German centre-back, The Friedkins could look to force Branthwaite out.

Everton will need the perfect replacement to fill the void of a defender like Branthwaite, and going off how Bisseck has performed for Inter Milan this season, he would fit Moyes’ plans to a tee.

Jarrad Branthwaite in 24/25 Yann Bisseck in 24/25

Games played 30 27

Pass accuracy % 82.9% 92.4%

Duels won per 90 4.72 4.18

Aerial duels won 62 48

Recoveries 93 66

It’s clear that there isn’t much separating the two, and for £34m, Bisseck looks like a bargain, and adding to this, his passing statistics are highly impressive.

Tottenham themselves want Branthwaite, so if the club strikes quickly, Moyes can come to a compromise with Ange Postecoglou and Daniel Levy.
