Club’s objective for West Ham player now very clear – Attempt to be made in the summer

Maxwel Cornet joined Serie A side Genoa on a loan deal from West Ham in the January transfer window.

This came after a frustrating loan spell at Southampton but things in Italy have turned out better for the 28-year-old winger. He played seven times in Serie A and scored two goals, making a mark despite struggling with muscle problems.

Genoa are now preparing to sign the West Ham loanee once again, with his current loan deal set to expire soon.

Gianluca di Marzio reports the Rossoblu have made their decision about the player and their ‘goal’ now is keep Cornet at the club.

Their intention is to negotiate a deal with West Ham in the summer transfer window and while there is no mention of whether it would be a permanent deal or another loan, the Italian club’s intention to keep him is now clear.

They do not want to lose too many players amidst the uncertainty surrounding manager Patrick Vieira’s future.

They are waiting for the 48-year-old’s situation to be resolved and after that, they could then speak to West Ham about the deal involving Cornet.
