Manchester United have seen their opening bid for Bryan Mbeumo reportedly rejected by Brentford.
The Red Devils launched their first bid for the 25-year-old forward on Wednesday night, worth an initial £45million, with £10m in add-ons.
However, according to the Mirror, Brentford have told United their proposal falls significantly short of their transfer valuation, with the Bees pointing towards the £62.5m that United paid Wolves for Matheus Cunha.
The Bees have communicated that they feel Mbeumo is worth a similar transfer fee to the Brazilian forward. Brentford have no pressure to sell this summer as they hold a 12-month extension clause in the Cameroonian's contract, which expires in 2026. It's said that Mbeumo wants £250k-per-week to join United, despite being on just £50k-a-week at Brentford.
Earlier this week, Mbeumo had given the green light to United as he made clear his preference to move to Old Trafford despite interest from Arsenal, Tottenham and Newcastle.

Mbeumo has been admired by Ruben Amorim for a while and is seen as the ideal fit for his system due to his ability to play in one of the No.10 positions and also at right-wing-back - a role he has played in a similar formation to the Portuguese's 3-4-2-1 at Brentford.
The Cameroonian's work rate and determination is also said to be a decisive factor behind the interest, with Amorim keen to add both to his squad.
Amorim has already begun work on his overhaul of United's squad this summer after the club announced they had sealed the signing of Cunha from Wolves. The Brazilian's £62.5m release clause in his contract was triggered, and the transfer is subject to visa and registration, which is expected to be a formality, when he returns from international duty.
United scored just 44 Premier League goals last season, and Amorim is clearly keen to add more firepower. Mbeumo scored 20 times in the league last season, while Cunha netted 15 goals, seeing their combined record just nine shy of the total United scored last campaign.
