Bryan Mbeumo has reportedly laid down his terms to Manchester United, demanding a whopping £250,000-a-week wage packet if he's to make the switch to Old Trafford this summer.

The 25-year-old Cameroon sensation has been earmarked by United as their next top target after wrapping up a deal for Matheus Cunha from Wolves. However, United's first attempts to lure him to Old Trafford have been rebuffed by Brentford.

Mbeumo is fresh off a incredible season with the Bees, having smashed through the 20-goal ceiling in the Premier League for the first time.

United had hoped to sign him for £55million, but Brentford are said to be holding out for £60million. And Mbeumo's hefty pay rise request means that snapping up the Bees' star man won't come cheap.

According to The Times, Mbeumo currently pockets £50,000-a-week at Brentford; he's aiming to multiply that by five if he makes the move to Old Trafford, reports the Mirror.

If United bow to these demands, Mbeumo would instantly join the ranks of the club's top earners during a transfer window where the Reds are looking to offload two of their highest paid players, Marcus Rashford and Jadon Sancho.

Mbeumo is entering the final year of his contract in west London and while Brentford do hold an option, there's a general understanding that he's likely to part ways after another sparkling season in red and white.

Just like Cunha, Mbeumo is tipped to be a star for Ruben Amorim's struggling United crew as he's already proved his chops in the Premier League. Last season's 15th place finish saw United desperate for a squad revamp.

Mbeumo only saw Mo Salah, Erling Haaland and Alexander Isak score more goals than him last season. While Bruno Fernandes and Amad were United's best hitmen in the league, each notching just eight.

Brentford might be keen to pocket some cash for Mbeumo in the summer window, but they won't sell him on the cheap.

"It is clear that if he is to be sold, it must be for a nice, nice amount," he Thomas Frank admitted.

"It is a lot. Mucho. Really a lot. How many wingers score 20 goals for a mid-table club? And then with seven assists plus his work ethic. And his character. All these things mean that he has a lot, so he is a good player."
