His hold-up play was flawless and he also showed brilliant dribbling ability along with searing pace, as his assist for Denmark’s goal went viral.
“This kid is a menace, look how many opportunities he made for himself, ” said one, as another agreed, “This is so impressive considering most or all the other players are older than him.”
A third wrote: “This guy is something else. He’s giving Osimhen vibes.”
“His hold-up play is insane for a [17] year-old, need Osimhen to guide him at Man Utd,” said a fourth.
A fifth commented: “This guy really needs a top coach to work on his shooting for one season and we have a worldie on our hands. He has every single thing”.
A sixth said: “I love how he creates good chances for his teammates, but if he can even sniff a chance he has that selfishness you want in a striker.”
“He’s actually looking better with each passing game,” said another as one more claimed, “A lot closer to the first team than some think.”
One fan made a bold prediction that might age to be true, “We have something big here guys. When this guy is 20, he benches whoever our striker is.”
Man Utd need to consider Obi in striker search
Obi has repeatedly shown in first-team cameos and now at the international level that he’s ready for first-team football at least semi-regularly.
United need to find a way to keep him involved in the first-team picture next season instead of sending him out on loan to scrap at a lower level.
The improvements he’s shown to his game in just one year since joining United prove he’s a model professional who’s working hard on his game.
He’ll benefit more from staying in and around Carrington and learning from a senior striker, which United need to consider while buying a new No. 9.
Liam Delap’s rejection could be a blessing in disguise since Obi might well be ready to compete with whoever United sign this summer in a year or two.
Therefore, getting a player at the peak of his powers should be the priority so that Obi has an experienced player to learn more, and eventually take the reins from when he’s ready. The similarities to Victor Osimhen are already uncanny.
United need to take this planning into consideration while buying a striker. His play merits it.
