Trai Hume now comments on his future after being linked with Wolves transfer

Wolves face the prospect of losing Nelson Semedo – and Trai Hume is reportedly on the club’s list of potential replacements.

Semedo has a four-year contract offer on the table from Wolves at the moment.

But the captain could well leave the club, and is currently mulling over what to do, after finishing his fifth season at the club.

Semedo was serenaded by Wolves fans after the Brentford draw, and the defender looked emotional as he walked around Molineux.

It did give off the feeling that he was perhaps going to leave the club.

But days after that, Semedo updated fans on social media to say he was going to go away and think.

Wolves have been linked with Trai Hume in recent days, after the full-back enjoyed an impressive season at Sunderland which culminated in promotion.

And now, the youngster has shared how he’s currently feeling amid the speculation about his future.

Wolves have already lost Matheus Cunha to Manchester United, and Pablo Sarabia is leaving on a free.

Rayan Ait-Nouri is set to join Manchester City, so Semedo leaving too would mean a pretty heavy start to the summer for Wolves.

Hume is a target for Wolves.

But given what he said about his future last night, the Wolves recruitment team may now need to look at options.

He said: “I’ve said it ever since I moved to Sunderland, I really love my football here.

“I love playing. I love the club, I’m happy where I’m at, if anything happens it’s from the club. I love playing for Sunderland so I’m happy being there.”

A blow for Wolves over Trai Hume

Wolves may like Hume, but these comments are not ideal if the club were ready to make an approach to Sunderland.

The Northern Ireland international has not completely ruled out an exit from the Stadium of Light.

But clearly, he is pretty happy where he is at the moment.

So, given he has a contract with the Black Cats until 2027 and they hold an option to extend by a year, it may take a fairly big offer for Wolves to land him.

But the club may not even bother now given what he’s said about his future.

That said, it’s still not completely out of the question that Semedo will sign a new contract – and if that happened there’d be no need for Hume anyway.
