Report: Liverpool feel they now have a player worth £100m and are determined to keep hold of him

Liverpool’s attackers are of interest to a plethora of clubs this transfer window.

The Reds are preparing for a potential attacking overhaul this summer, with Luis Diaz a target for many top teams.

The Colombian cost Liverpool an initial £37m in January 2022, a fee that seems a bargain given just how good he has been.

However, if they decide to sell, Liverpool will make a hefty profit as Al Nassr and Barcelona are both vying for Diaz’s signature, with the Spanish club’s sporting director Deco even admitting he admires Diaz.

With the summer transfer window only just opening, this saga could be a drawn-out one, although the eye-watering price tag that Liverpool have set for Diaz might have just put some clubs off.

Liverpool have set a £100m price tag for Luis Diaz

Liverpool are always smart operators in the transfer market and get good fees for their players, with this having the chance to continue if they sell Diaz for their asking price.

The Liverpool Echo have reported that the Reds have slapped a £100m price tag on the Colombian if they are to sell this summer, with the Merseyside club believing that this is reflective of the current market.

This comes in the wake of fellow Saudi club Al Hilal stating that they would be willing to buy Manchester United’s Bruno Fernandes for the same fee, with Liverpool now capitalising on this, especially as Diaz is two years younger than the Portuguese player.

This may put Barcelona, who had an approach rejected by Liverpool on Wednesday, off from signing the 28-year-old due to their recent financial constraints.

Despite naming their price, Liverpool don’t want to sell Diaz and will try to keep hold of him, with Arne Slot seeing him as a key player for his team again next season.

Luis Diaz has been on fire for Liverpool this season

It is no surprise to see Diaz linked so heavily with a move away as he is fresh off his best season in a Liverpool shirt to date.

Stats this season in all competitions Luis Diaz

Appearances 50

Goals 17

Assists 8

The tricky winger had been electric at times this season and caused defenders real problems, while also showing an improvement in front of goal after netting 17 times.

His versatility is also a huge plus for Slot too, with the Dutchman asking him to play off the left and through the middle at points throughout the campaign, with Diaz excelling in both.

Liverpool don’t want to sell and it is clear to see why, but if a £100m offer does come in, it will likely prove too good to refuse.
