Manchester United are willing to match Brentford forward Bryan Mbeumo’s wage demands to seal a summer move for the Cameroonian international, talkSPORT journalist Alex Crook has revealed.
The Red Devils are reportedly prepared to pay the £250,000-a-week salary package Mbeumo is demanding to make him Ruben Amorim’s second summer signing, with club-to-club talks now underway.
United are believed to have submitted an initial offer worth £45m plus £10m in add-ons for the 25-year-old forward, while Brentford’s valuation is closer to what the Old Trafford outfit paid for Matheus Cunha.
The Bees are seeking around £70m for the Cameroonian forward, who has just over a year left on his contract, running until June 2026.

Willing to match his salary demands

Crook, speaking on talkSPORT, has revealed that Man United are engaged in club-to-club talks with Brentford and are willing to pay the salary package Mbeumo is demanding:
“Club-to-club talks have now started, Manchester United have registered their interest formally with Brentford.
“So as I’m told this morning, £250,000 a week is the pay package that Bryan Mbeumo is demanding, and I’m told Manchester United are willing to pay that.
“Which took me by surprise, because obviously Sir Jim Ratcliffe has been pleading poverty saying they want to bring the wage bill down.”
Wages in the region of £250,000 a week would place Mbeumo among the highest earners at Old Trafford, alongside the likes of Bruno Fernandes, Casemiro and outcasts Jadon Sancho and Marcus Rashford.
The ‘phenomenal’ Cameroonian forward is coming off his career-best Premier League season, with 20 goals and eight assists in 38 appearances for the Bees.
United could help fund their pursuit of the 25-year-old winger through player departures, as the likes of Sancho, Rashford, Alejandro Garnacho, and Antony are among those expected to leave.
The Red Devils will receive £5m from Chelsea after their decision not to sign Sancho permanently this summer and will look for a new club for the England international.
