18 y/o star reveals two reasons for leaving boyhood club to join Man United

Defender Ayden Heaven has had a promising start at Manchester United after joining from Arsenal in the January transfer window.

United paid the Gunners a compensation package in the region of £1.5 million to secure the services of the talented English centre-back.

Heaven debuted in the FA Cup fifth-round defeat to Fulham at Old Trafford, coming on as a substitute for Harry Maguire.

He made his Premier League debut against Arsenal before being handed his first start against Leicester City.

The 18-year-old suffered an injury against the Foxes that hampered his momentum. He was not back in action until the penultimate league game against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge.

The former England U19 international has revealed two factors that influenced his decision to leave his boyhood club to join Man United.

He told ManUtd.com: “The opportunities that the young players have got here in the past.

“I think United had the most minutes given to teenagers last season (2023/24). That convinced me to come here.

“And the people and the fans here are quite loving, and I felt that when I was playing. They’re so supportive.”

Heaven’s decision to join United has already been justified, given that he made his professional debut after joining the Red Devils, an opportunity he may not have gotten at Arsenal.

The talented defender also disclosed that manager Ruben Amorim convinced him to join the Mancunian giants.

“He just said that our play style will suit me, because they play three at the back and I play on the left of the three, so that allows me to run with the ball.

“That is one of my strengths. And defending out wide is one of my strengths as well.”

Heaven named Mason Mount, Bruno Fernandes, and Patrick Dorgu as the players who helped him settle in at Man United.
