Nottingham Forest braced as new club join Liverpool and Man City in race for £100m man Morgan…

Morgan Gibbs-White continues to be the subject of transfer speculation, despite Manchester City cooling their interest in the Nottingham Forest ace.

City had been eyeing up Gibbs-White for some time amid their search for a replacement for Kevin De Bruyne. However, with AC Milan midfielder Tijjani Reijnders and Lyon playmaker Rayan Cherki seemingly set for moves to the Etihad Stadium, a swoop for the Reds man was said to have become unlikely.

Gibbs-White has other admirers, though, and it seems rumours about his future at the City Ground are not going to go away. Chelsea are the latest club said to have taken an interest in the England international.

According to TEAMtalk, Gibbs-White has emerged as a target for the Blues. They are said to have the 25-year-old and West Ham United’s Mohammed Kudus “in their sights” as they plot a summer spending spree.

Forest are said to be “braced for offers” for their prized asset. Premier League champions Liverpool are also reportedly keeping tabs on him.

Talk of a £70-100 million price tag on Gibbs-White’s head has been considered as “too expensive” by some of his admirers. The Reds are not actively looking to sell their star man, though, and they are well aware of his value.

Gibbs-White has established himself as a key figure Trentside since his 2022 switch from Wolverhampton Wanderers. He was integral for Nuno Espirito Santo’s side last season as they challenged at the top end of the table.

Champions League qualification had appeared a real possibility for the Reds for much of the campaign but a late dip in form cost them a top-five finish. Chelsea secured a place in Europe’s elite club competition at Forest’s expense when they claimed a final-day 1-0 win at the City Ground.

In what was still a remarkable achievement, Nuno’s men had to settle for finishing seventh in the table. They will test themselves in the UEFA Conference League next term.
