Report: Bayern Munich, Bayer Leverkusen, Atlético Madrid competing for Manchester United’s…

According to a report from ESPN Brazil (as captured by Tz), Bayern Munich could be in the hunt for Manchester United winger Antony:

FC Bayern is urgently searching for a new winger for the left wing. The Munich club is currently being linked with a number of names. Brazilian star Antony is also said to be a potential candidate for Säbener Straße.

Antony has regained his former strength at Real Betis – and is suddenly once again attracting the attention of top European clubs. FC Bayern Munich is also said to have their eye on the Brazilian.

According to the Brazilian ESPN affiliate, FC Bayern has begun initial talks with Manchester United to inquire about the terms of a potential transfer for Antony. Although the deal is still in its early stages, the Munich club are clearly interested. United wants to sell Antony as part of its cost-cutting measures, including saving on his high salary of nearly €12 million per season.

If true, Bayern Munich could be competing with Bayer Leverkusen and Atlético Madrid for Antony:

Atlético Madrid is also said to have joined the talks. Both clubs want to wait and see how the transfer situation develops in the coming weeks, as Antony remains a top prospect for Man United despite his sporting upswing. Bayer Leverkusen is also interested, according to media reports. The Werkself are looking for alternatives on the attacking flanks. With his versatility and international experience, Antony could fit coach Erik ten Hag’s profile well – provided Leverkusen is willing to dig deep into their pockets.

The loan is due to end soon – however, staying at Betis seems unrealistic, as Manchester United are demanding a transfer fee of between €40 and €50 million. This sum is beyond the reach of the Spanish club. The winger’s current market value is estimated at €20 million.

At 25, Antony is coming off of a mildly successful loan spell with Real Betis, but is set to return to Manchester United in the coming weeks. Should Bayern Munich take look at the winger?
