Manchester City will next week give their clearest indicator yet on what the future holds for Jack Grealish.

The 29-year-old is expected to leave the Etihad this summer after falling down the pecking order at City. He was left out of the squad for the final Premier League game at Fulham and barely featured in the top flight in the second half of the season.

Pep Guardiola said the decision to leave Grealish out was nothing more than rotation but the England international has gone from key player in the treble winning season to a watching brief. And with City set to spend big this summer as part of a squad overhaul, several players will move on.

Grealish is set to be one with reports suggesting he won't travel to America this summer for the Club World Cup.

Leaving the £100million man out of the squad altogether, would be a clear indication that Grealish will be on the move this summer. Travelling and featuring in the tournament would offer the wideman the chance to impress suitors, earn match minutes and potentially bolster his pricetag for a future sale.

If he stays at home, then Grealish will ensure he does not pick up an injury ahead of a potentially defining summer move, while it could make negotiations with other clubs easier.

Either way, that clarity will be offered next week. Club World Cup squads must be submitted to FIFA by Tuesday (June 10).

Competing clubs have already submitted provisional squads between 26 and 50 players, including four goalkeepers, although these were not made public.

Teams must trim that list down a maximum of 35 players next week once the early transfer window closes.

Clubs will be allowed to make limited changes to their squad between June 27 and July 3 although players cannot appear for two different clubs in the tournament.
