Wolverhampton Wanderers are set to bag a huge profit as Fabrizio Romano confirms an imminent transfer done deal.
Manchester City have reached a full agreement with Wolverhampton Wanderers to sign left-wing back Rayan Ait-Nouri, reports Fabrizio Romano. The Cityzens were eager to land Ait-Nouri before the start of the FIFA Club World Cup and are on track to do just that as the deal is expected to be completed by the end of this week.
Romano, famous for his ‘here we go’ slogan to announce done deals, reports a full agreement has been struck for Ait-Nouri to join Man City. Wolves have accepted an offer in the region of €40 million (£33.6m) for the Algerian, who will undergo his medical on Saturday.
Signed from Angers in 2021 after an initial season-long loan spell, Ait-Nouri has racked up 157 appearances for Wolves, 135 of which have been in the Premier League. Last season was the Algeria international’s most productive as he scored four goals and provided seven assists in 37 league matches, adding a further goal in the FA Cup.
Wolves are raking in a tidy profit on the £10 million they paid for Ait-Nouri but it won’t all be going straight into the pot as Angers hold a 50 per cent sell-on clause. Wanderers have the option buy out that clause for £9 million and they will likely do so as that would represent better value than simply allowing Angers to claim 50 per cent of the profit.
Hunt begins for Rayan Ait-Nouri replacement at Wolves
The search will now commence for a replacement and one player is already on the shortlist. Versatile Brondby prospect Clement Bischoff, nearly signed by Brighton & Hove Albion in the winter before a deal fell through, is reportedly of great interest to Wolves.
Bischoff recently enjoyed a superb breakthrough season at Brondby, making 40 senior appearances across all competitions through 2024/25. Just like Ait-Nouri, Bischoff is an attacking left-back who could fit superbly into Pereira’s back-three system. The 19-year-old is so forward-minded that he can also play as an attacking midfielder, a left winger, a right winger or a centre-forward if required.
The two-time Denmark international, the definition of versatile, contributed two goals and 10 assists in his 40 matches last term. Wolves would love to tap into that output and hope Bischoff will be available to sign this summer.
It awaits to be seen how much Brondby would demand to sell Bischoff but Brighton agreed a £7 million deal back in February before seeing it fall through. Bischoff was left frustrated by the failed move and has reiterated his desire to move abroad in the near future.
“I have a plan and I'm working every day to make this move abroad," said Bischoff. "This was a really good opportunity for me (to join Brighton), but it is what it is. If I keep doing it right, I know the opportunity will come again.
"At the moment I'm disappointed, and in the first days it was tough, but you don't get anything out of burying yourself. It's hard for me to say (why it fell through), because I can't get into the details. There are a lot of things in these pre-agreements. They are a bit more complicated, and the parties couldn't agree in the end. That's how it is."
