Why Trent Alexander-Arnold has been banned from taking his £130,000 car to Real Madrid - report

Real Madrid have banned Trent Alexander-Arnold from bringing one of his most prized possessions with him to Spain ahead of the revamped Club World Cup. The right-back - widely regarded as the best in his position - was originally set to leave Liverpool on a free transfer once his contract expired. However, the Spanish giants opted to fast-track the move by paying £10 million to sign him a month early.

Alexander-Arnold has signed a six-year contract at the Bernabeu, which officially began on Sunday when the transfer window opened. Earning £240,000 per week, he is now one of the highest-paid players in Thomas Tuchel’s England squad. Meanwhile, former employers Liverpool have already moved to fill the void at right-back by landing Bayer Leverkusen’s Jeremie Frimpong in a £30 million deal.

While Trent’s salary is set to fund a luxury lifestyle under the Spanish sun, there's one expensive toy he won't be bringing with him - his £130,000 Range Rover, which he's been spotted driving around England.

What Cars Real Madrid Players Have Chosen to Drive for 2024-25 Season

Real Madrid's players and manager Carlo Ancelotti have chosen new luxury cars to drive - and they're certainly not cheap.

Why Trent Is Banned From Taking His Range Over To Real Madrid

It is because of the club's partnership with another car manafacturer

Alexander-Arnold is banned from using his new motor in the Spanish capital because Real Madrid have a sponsorship agreement with BMW, which prevents players driving any other cars to the club's training ground, according to El Motor.

The car manafacturer supplies players with new toys to use throughout each season, meaning he will have a new whip to look forward to.

The agreement between Real Madrid and BMW includes a fleet of plug-in hybrid and electric vehicles, which are eventually sold as pre-owned models once the players are done with them. Alexander-Arnold, currently on international duty with England, will still be cruising in an SUV - but not the familiar Range Rover he drove around Merseyside.

What Cars Manchester City Players Drive

Manchester City players drive some very expensive car, although 'humble' Josko Gvardiol stands out among the squad.

Instead, he’ll be offered a top-of-the-range BMW, just like teammates Kylian Mbappe and Jude Bellingham, who have both opted for the BMW XM - a luxury SUV priced at around £152,000 but provided to players at no cost, as reported by the Daily Mail.

Alexander-Arnold’s previous ride, a £130,000 Range Rover fitted with a 4.4L V8 twin-turbo engine pumping out 530 horsepower, could hit 100 km/h in just 2.6 seconds. Though that beast won't be tearing up the streets of Madrid, the West Derby-born defender will no doubt find solace in the form of a new car or two in his showroom.
