It's not a regular occurrence for a player to make the jump from the lower leagues of Europe to the Premier League, but there's a player there making a big name for himself out of that league: Canadian international Promise David.
David initially drew attention to himself by dominating a few different leagues in Estonia. After not featuring much in 2021/22 for the Maltese Premier League side Valletta, he moved to Sirens FC (also in Malta) in July 2022. He was at Sirens until February of 2023, when he joined Kalju FC in the Estonian Premium League.
The striker's 2022/23 season saw him play in 48 matches, scoring 28 goals in just under 2500 minutes.
He followed that campaign with a season where he didn't play nearly as much (just 21 total matches) but bagged 23 goals in 1682 minutes for Kalju. A quick look at his highlight videos shows a player who was physically bigger and stronger than the rest of the league, allowing him to dominate when on the field.
The FBRef scouting report numbers support the visual, as he's continued to be a prolific goal scorer and carrier of the football over the last year, with several of his percentiles in the mid-to-upper 90s. He's clearly skilled, even if he'd need to clean up his touch as the level of play around him improves.
David moved to Union SG in Belgium in July 2024 and has continued to be a goal-scoring machine. In 37 matches (26 starts), including a few appearances in the Europa League, the striker has 20 goals (6 penalties) and four assists in helping Union achieve a third-place finish to its season and qualify for the Champions League.
Whether David's athleticism will allow him to be successful in the Premier League, where he will no longer have that advantage over much of his competition, would be a major question.
But for a player who'll turn 24 in early July and isn't likely to be very expensive to bring into the fold, there might be something to taking a flyer on the kid and seeing if he can continue to flourish as the competition level rises.
It wouldn't be a move where you'd expect him to immediately step in and change David Moyes' team next season, but as a player with massive potential for the future, it would be fun to have Promise David as part of Everton as he continues to develop.
