Dustin Colquitt Retires a Member of the Chiefs

A third-round pick in the 2005 NFL Draft, Colquitt went on to record the seventh-most punts of any player in NFL history. He also served as the Chiefs' holder for more than 400 field goal attempts and over 500 extra-point tries.

He was a constant, reliable force amidst multiple generations of Chiefs football, and while many of his early seasons in Kansas City were mired in disappointment when it came to the standings, his steady resolve was rewarded with one of the greatest runs in franchise history during the latter portion of his career.

In fact, when including the postseason, Colquitt appeared in 250 games for the Chiefs during his storied career. His 250th – and final – game with Kansas City was Super Bowl LIV.

He recorded two punts and five total holds in that game as Kansas City went on to win its first world championship in 50 years, and in poetic fashion, the man who appeared in more games for the franchise than any other was right in the middle of it.

That unforgettable night was Colquitt's final game on the field for the red and gold, but as of Wednesday, his legacy will remain in Kansas City forever.
