Jack Grealish has responded to criticism of his performances at Manchester City as debate around his future under Pep Guardiola rages.
Former Aston Villa team-mate Gabby Agbonlahor lit the touch-paper when he hit out at Guardiola’s handling of the attacker, particularly in the FA Cup final when Grealish watched on as an unused substitute as rookie Claudio Echeverri was handed his debut as City looked for an equaliser against Crystal Palace.
"Bringing on a young kid for his debut in an FA Cup final when you're chasing a goal, when you've got someone who has had the career Jack's had seemed a bit odd," Agbonlahor said on talkSPORT Breakfast.
"That seemed like a bit personal to me. You know like a last little dig to get you out, to upset you, to want you to move, but we've seen this before from Pep.
"Pep can be ruthless at times if he feels that you're not part of his future plans. He will get rid of you."
talkSPORT posted the clip on their social media platforms and when one fan suggested Grealish’s form accounted for his omission, Grealish hit back, saying: "Haha I've been bad lately? Scored three goals in my last three appearances over 45 mins but okie dokie love x."
Grealish also commented: "What u want me to do, score a hatty in 20?"
Speculation that Grealish could leave City has grown as he has been starved of game-time at City, with a return to Villa mooted by commentators but no actual firm indications from either side that it is even being considered. He has once again been linked with Tottenham Hotspur, whom he was close to joining earlier in his career.
