[FC Barcelona](https://www.barcablaugranes.com) will pocket £6.56 million pounds, or roughly €7.8 million, from the [sale](https://www.nytimes.com/athletic/6400369/2025/06/03/west-ham-transfer-todibo-complete/) of Jean-Clair Todibo to West Ham United thanks to a 20% sell-on clause negotiated when they sold the French defender to Nice in 2021.
Todibo, who is now 25, joined Barcelona from Toulouse in 2019 as a promising 18-year-old but struggled to find regular playing time. After loan spells at Schalke and Benfica, he eventually moved to Nice for €8.5 million, with Barça ensuring a percentage of any future sale.
West Ham initially brought Todibo in on loan last summer with an obligation to buy if they remained in the Premier League. With that condition met, the Hammers completed the permanent transfer for £32.8m, roughly €39 million. Barcelona will get 20% of that, which amounts to around €7.8 million.
In total, Barcelona has now made €15.3 million from Todibo 0 combining the original sale and the sell-on clause 0 without the defender ever establishing himself at Camp Nou.
The club could see similar income this summer from other sell-on clauses involving former players like Francisco Trincão, Óscar Mingueza, Ez Abde, Riqui Puig, and others, as they continue to seek creative ways to generate transfer funds.
