Blackburn Rovers stance detailed amid fight to keep sought-after starlet

Blackburn Rovers are fighting to keep Igor Tyjon amid persisting interest from the Premier League, as per the Lancashire Telegraph.

Blackburn Rovers are embarking on an important summer transfer window as they look to progress under Valerien Ismael.

The Frenchman struggled to a slow start to life at Ewood Park but improved form to end the campaign gave fans some renewed hope and some much-needed confidence in Ismael has grown.

The start to next season will need to be a strong one though, and all eyes will be on potential youth starlets who could follow the well-followed path to the first-team. Among those widely backed to break through in the coming years is Igor Tyjon, but he is not without admirers.

Clubs from higher levels have regularly been linked with the Blackburn Rovers teenager and recent reports have said Arsenal are keen.

However, the Lancashire Telegraph has now provided further details on Rovers’ bid to keep the 17-year-old.

They state Blackburn Rovers have faith Tyjon can break into the team in the coming years and a verbal agreement to tie him down to a professional deal as soon as possible was in place, though that has not been signed by the youngster as he keeps his options open.

Rovers remain hopeful of keeping Tyjon but must display he has a chance of meaningful minutes going forward.

A clear pathway at Blackburn Rovers

While Tyjon would appear to be weighing up his options, there are numerous examples of players who have found regular senior opportunities at a young age.

A number of the current first-team came through the academy, including captain Lewis Travis. Tyrhys Dolan went straight into the senior setup after signing from Preston while the likes of Ashley Phillips and Adam Wharton made names for themselves at Ewood Park before leaving for bigger things.

Tyjon has been held in high regard ever since he joined from Rochdale and looks as though he could be on an exciting path in his fledgling career.

Young stars wanted elsewhere

Blackburn Rovers are no strangers to interest in their young stars, so they are in familiar territory as Premier League clubs such as Arsenal eye Tyjon.

Rory Finneran was prised away by Newcastle United last year and it could be that more follow in his footsteps by joining a top club.

Alongside Tyjon as starlets to draw interest from elsewhere are Harvey Higgins, Joe Boggan and Silver Eze.
