Luis Diaz puts ball in Liverpool’s court after Barcelona bid rejected for forward

Liverpool star Luis Diaz has admitted they are talking to clubs about a transfer at this moment in time, insisting the matter is in the Reds’ hands.

Journalist Pipe Sierra provides a video of the Liverpool forward today, in which he discussed his future at a Colombian press conference.

The 28-year-old is currently on international duty but there is a media storm developing around him back in England.

Barcelona are believed to be pushing for his signature and have already seen a first bid rejected by Liverpool. Reports in England have stated that Liverpool are refusing to sell.

This is something of a strange stance from them as Diaz’s current deal runs until 2027 and, so, this is likely the last summer they can get a big fee for him. The belief is that they would be forced to sell cheaply next summer if he was in the final year of his deal.

Diaz and Liverpool have been talking about an extension for months but are yet to find an agreement to extend his stay at Anfield. And he now insists the matter is fully in their hands.

“We’re talking with clubs, it’s normal in the transfer market, and we’re looking for what’s best for us,” he said.

“If they give us a good renewal or I stay there for two years, I’ll be happy. Now it’s up to them.”
