Bruno Fernandes and Cristiano Ronaldo both make same point in two powerful messages after Portugal’s Nations League win

Manchester United star Bruno Fernandes and Al Nassr superstar Cristiano Ronaldo wasted no time reacting after Portugal’s Nations League semi-final showdown with Germany on Wednesday evening.

Bruno Fernandes took part in the post-season tour of Asia with Manchester United in May ahead of linking up with the Portugal national team for international duty.

The 30-year-old United captain enjoyed a superb individual 2024-25 campaign at Old Trafford, including scooping the Sir Matt Busby Player of the Year award.

Fernandes has remained an influential figure in the United first team and the Red Devils star netted 19 times and registered 19 assists in 57 matches last season.

The Portugal international retained the United captain’s armband under Ruben Amorim, who arrived at Old Trafford in 2024 and replaced Erik ten Hag at the club.

However, Fernandes had been linked with Al Hilal in recent weeks and the United ace’s long-term future had been in doubt after the end of the 2024-25 season.

Germany and Portugal played out a 0-0 first-half scoreline before Florian Wirtz broke the deadlock only three minutes into the second half of the Nations League match.

However, Roberto Martinez’s side rallied back and Florian Wirtz’s second-half opener was cancelled out in the 63rd minute after Francisco Conceicao found the equaliser.

Portugal then took the lead only five minutes later after Cristiano Ronaldo put his side 2-1 up and Germany were unable to rally back before the full-time whistle.

Bruno Fernandes took to social media and the Manchester United midfielder posted a photo of the Portugal players celebrating and added a straightforward message.

“Portugal,” he wrote on Instagram, adding a heart emoji.

Ronaldo, much like former United teammate Fernandes, was on the same wavelength with his message after Portugal’s 2-1 win at the Allianz Arena.

Posting for his eye-watering 655m Instagram followers, the 40-year-old United legend wrote: “Onwards, Portugal!!”
