Thursday Cheese Curds: WR Romeo Doubs just wants to help Packers ‘be a winner’

On paper, Green Bay Packers wide receiver Romeo Doubs has been a solid producer. Scoring 15 touchdowns on 147 catches in three seasons is nothing to sneeze at, particularly in an offense with a run-first approach and a crowded stable of “guys” at wide receiver.

But life isn’t lived on paper. His taciturn, internalized nature came to a simmer in 2024 in an episode that saw him withdraw from team activities before being suspended by the team. Then there are the injury concerns, especially two concussions in close succession.

And all of that as the young pass catcher now heads into a contract year on a team that added talented receiver depth through the draft.

As 2025 activities get underway, though, Doubs is focused on moving forward and helping the team, particularly his new teammates in the receiver room.

Speaking recently after an OTA practice, Doubs said, “My goal going into this year is to be a winner. Obviously, to be a player within this offense and, ultimately, to help out two receivers that are here learning the system.”

Can Doubs overcome his past turbulence to earn a second contract with the Packers? There are opinions on all sides regarding both the possibility and whether or not the team should even pursue it. But for now, Doubs seems like he just wants to get out there and play.
