‘The understanding’: Fabrizio Romano confirms what he's heard about Everton target Aleksandar…

Football transfer guru Fabrizio Romano has shared a new update on Aleksandar Mitrovic after reports that Everton want to sign him.

Ahead of their move to the Hill Dickinson Stadium next season, The Friedkin Group want a marquee signing for Everton to get the fans excited for the new campaign.

David Moyes wants Everton to sign a striker and there is no shortage of names being linked with a move to Merseyside. Everton missed out on Liam Delap to Chelsea, but now have their sights set on Al-Hilal forward Aleksandar Mitrovic.

Reports have stated that Everton will have to pay £40m for Mitrovic, a fee they should be able to afford this summer but not one they may be willing to part with for one player.

Upon hearing the news, Everton fans do not want to sign Mitrovic, as they believe his price tag is far too high for someone of his age. Now, Fabrizio Romano has shared a new update on Mitrovic’s future after the reports that Everton want to sign him.

Fabrizio Romano says Aleksandar Mitrovic could leave Al-Hilal amid Everton links

Former Everton boss Marco Silva speaks very highly of Mitrovic, but that does not seem to have changed the opinion of the Everton fans, who want the club to sign a young and exciting striker rather than Mitrovic, who is 30 years old.

Everton are thought to be interested in Richarlison, but there are doubts as to whether the Toffees can get a deal done this summer despite his drop in game time.

Speaking to DAZN, Romano has confirmed that Mitrovic will be able to leave Al-Hilal this summer, but they need to sign a replacement striker first.

“He has been an important part of this team, but the understanding is that if Victor Osimhen joins or any other top striker, Mitrovic could leave the club. There is some interest from Europe and internally in Saudi.

“He could be a different solution for different clubs, so staying in the Saudi Pro League but just changing the club.

“We will follow the situation, but for sure it will be an interesting name to watch.”

Who could Everton sign instead of Aleksandar Mitrovic

The prospect of signing Mitrovic is genuine, but the move would not go down well with Everton fans.

It is believed that Everton have around £100m to spend before player sales, so they can afford to bring in a quality striker to replace Dominic Calvert-Lewin, who looks set to leave the club at the end of his contract.

Everton are linked with Nick Woltemade after an impressive season with Stuttgart in the Bundesliga. The 23-year-old has interest from across Europe, so Moyes will need to act fast if he is to bring the German forward to Merseyside.

Reports have stated that Woltemade will cost Everton just £16m this summer, a bargain fee given how well he has played this season.

However, German media slated Woltemade for his international performance on Wednesday night, saying he “lacked commitment” during the game.
