West Ham United didn’t have the season they would have hoped for in 2024/25.
The Hammers parted company with David Moyes last summer, despite him once again leading them into the top half of the Premier League table, and things haven’t gone to plan for them since then.
Julen Lopetegui was brought in to take the club to the next level, but when he failed miserably, they turned to another high-profile name in Graham Potter back in January.
Potter was once regarded as one of England’s brightest young coaches a few years ago, but he has failed to turn the East London outfit’s fortunes around so far.

Jack Grealish would be a good option for Potter’s West Ham
The former Chelsea and Brighton boss will surely be looking to significantly strengthen the squad this summer, to get the team into a position where they can push towards the top half next term.
MORE WEST HAM STORIES
West Ham have already been linked with moves for several players since the conclusion of the campaign, but by far the most exciting of those is Jack Grealish.
The Manchester City and England star is set to be left out of the Citizens’ 35-man squad for the upcoming Club World Cup, which would surely seal his fate at the club.
West Ham are linked with a deal to prise Grealish, 29, away from the Etihad Stadium, and there is every reason to believe that a move to E20 could revitalise the Birmingham-born attacker.
It’s hard to shake the feeling that his career has stagnated over the last four years at City, and Grealish desperately needs to be back in a side where he is the main man, just like he was at Villa.

Potter would surely be in a position to build his side around Grealish next term, and if he and the fans can provide him with that love and importance that Grealish arguably needs to play his best football, then it could be an extremely shrewd piece of business by the East Londoners.

Lucas Paqueta’s departure could open the door for Grealish
A move to West Ham could be made even more appealing for Grealish by the fact that his preferred shirt number could be set to become available in the near future.
Grealish has worn the number 10 shirt at both City and Villa, and with Lucas Paqueta currently awaiting the outcome of an FA investigation, the door could be about to open for Grealish to take the 10 at West Ham as well.
Paqueta’s season has been overshadowed by accusations of deliberately receiving yellow cards on four separate occasions, with a possible lifetime ban to come if he is found guilty.
The Brazilian midfielder has also been subject to interest from the likes of Man City and Flamengo, and appeared to say goodbye to the Hammers faithful following the final game of the season.
West Ham’s entire squad stood and applauded the away end together after their victory at Ipswich on the final day of the season, but footage showed Paqueta on his own, applauding the fans in what looked like a goodbye.
If that ends up being his last action in claret and blue, then a move for Grealish would surely be a satisfactory trade-off for West Ham.
Paqueta has produced moments of magic at times, but has largely been too inconsistent throughout his stint at the London Stadium. If the Grealish deal continues to progress, then the possibility of restoring him to his former glory may be too difficult to run down.
