Caoimhin Kelleher has joined Brentford from Liverpool, to become their first-choice goalkeeper - but some fans in the Liverpool Echo comments section can't help but feel that Arne Slot could have received more money to help fund his summer transfer window moves.
Kelleher joins the Bees for an initial £12.5m, rising to £18m with add-ons. Liverpool were previously thought to be seeking north of £20million for his services, but Kelleher had outgrown the second-choice goalkeeper role at the club, and the short time remaining on his contract meant that a sale had to be done.
Brentford's Mark Flekken has moved on to Bayer Leverkusen, and La Liga side Valencia's Georgian international, Giorgi Mamardashvili, will join Liverpool in a month's time to take up Kelleher's old role as Alisson's understudy. Kelleher was always going to be hot property this summer, with more than a few Premier League clubs after his signature.

The 26-year-old becomes the second high-profile exit from the Premier League champions this transfer window with Trent Alexander-Arnold having joined Real Madrid in a deal worth £10m to Liverpool, and allows him to play in the Club World Cup.
Those fans who had trouble believing that Liverpool would take £20 million for Kelleher feel like the club has missed a trick with this sale. Reader Campione84 says: "Good luck to him, wish him all the best, but we’ve let him go too cheap. £30m wouldn’t have been out the question."

Commenter Leebo66 agrees: "I'd like Thomas Franks negotiators on my side when buying a car. As for LFC that is seriously bad business, there were other clubs after him as well. He's a £30 million goalkeeper all day long!"
Gargar61 writes: "Can’t believe we only got a fee like that, he is a top class keeper. I thought we would get nearer to £30million for him. Good luck to him, I am sure he’ll be given the recognition he deserves on his return."
Liverbirdonmychest says: "Gutted he has gone and we have sold him far too cheap, top top young keeper. All the best to Caoimhin, Except when he plays against us."
Jon1991 writes: "Deserves to be paid a decent salary, and LFC letting him go for two bob and a rabbit is an eye opener for a keeper of his quality, he should be playing in the CL. If Thomas Frank leaves Brentford this summer, I hope Caiomhin as a release clause in this contract, as it was Frank who as kept Brentford in the league."
Others are just glad to see him take a chance to thrive. Leachater says: "Understandable move and not unexpected, but don’t begrudge him at all. Good luck to the fella, until we meet him again that is."
Aw01 writes: "Good luck fella. Well deserved and now everyone will get the chance to see just how good we knew you were."
Heighwayismyhero adds: "Top goalie and a great character. Very best of luck, fingers crossed you have 36 clean sheets in PL next season and an impressive international career! Thanks for being the best no.2 goalie!"
