'Maybe I would'– Man Utd ace wants to add key feature to playing style and it is perfect for Ruben Amorim's tactical system

Manchester United defender Leny Yoro has highlighted one fundamental area that he wants to develop and it will be music to the ears of manager Ruben Amorim.

Leny Yoro arrived at Old Trafford last summer after Manchester United landed the highly rated 19-year-old French defender from Ligue 1 outfit Lille.

The United centre-back was linked with Real Madrid back in 2024, but the Red Devils wasted no time dropping a hefty fee to bring Yoro to the Premier League club.

United agreed a deal worth £52.18m, including a further £6.73m in add-ons, to sign Yoro from Lille and the defender did impress in the 2024-25 campaign at the club.

Yoro missed the opening months of the Premier League campaign after he was ruled out of action due to an injury that he picked up on United’s pre-season tour in 2024.

However, the former Lille star showed his impressive qualities after he returned from injury and his natural ability to play in Ruben Amorim’s tactical system for United.

Leny Yoro is keen to improve one trait and it will be welcomed under Man Utd manager Ruben Amorim at Old Trafford

Leny Yoro, who is under contract with Manchester United until 2029, made 33 appearances in his debut season across all competitions in the 2024-25 season.

The Red Devils talent did not play under former Ajax and United boss Erik ten Hag during the last Premier League campaign after his pre-season tour injury.

Erik ten Hag was sacked as United manager last October and Yoro made his competitive debut under Ruben Amorim last December against Arsenal.

Yoro was asked about an area that he would like to build upon going forward and the Frenchman admitted that he wants to add “aggression” to his playing style.

Speaking to Rising Ballers, he said: “Maybe I would say, sometimes, my aggression, being more aggressive.

“With the ball, I need to improve, of course, but I think I’m good so maybe, sometimes, I need to be more aggressive.”

The sky is the limit for Leny Yoro at Old Trafford under Man Utd head coach Ruben Amorim

Yoro’s long-term development at United only adds to his importance for Amorim in the manager’s construction of a United first-team squad that is suited for his tactical system.

The former Lille defender was arguably one of United’s better performers on the pitch during a turbulent 2024-25 Premier League season for the Red Devils.

Yoro now has a pre-season campaign with United and the former Real Madrid target can reinforce his position as a regular starter in Amorim’s three-man backline.

The United star’s desire to add aggression to his playing style and even improve on the ball only highlights how influential he could become for the 2025-26 season.
