Newcastle United continue to be linked with a move for Manchester City’s Jack Grealish in the summer transfer window.
Grealish looks set to leave Man City after he was reportedly snubbed from their Club World Cup squad amid links with a move to Newcastle United. The tournament begins in the United States later this month.
Newcastle have been linked with a £38million move for Grealish, who has struggled for regular game time under Pep Guardiola for the last couple of seasons.
The England international is now facing a major crossroads in his career. While a superstar during his time at Aston Villa, he needs to choose his next move carefully, and the options look limited.
Grealish’s Man City salary looks prohibitive to a number of clubs. Unless he takes a wage cut, surely only a select few teams could realistically afford to sign him.
Former Aston Villa teammate Gabby Agbonlahor has now given his verdict.

Gabby Agbonlahor suggests Newcastle United could sign Jack Grealish
Speaking on talkSPORT, the ex-Villa striker namechecked Newcastle and Tottenham as potential suitors for the 29-year-old.
While Agbonlahor suggested Grealish should also consider a move in to Europe, he claimed both Spurs and Newcastle suit the player’s style.

“Sometimes it’s your time to move on,” he said.
“I’m sure he won’t be too upset about it, he’ll say ‘you know what, it’s my time to go’. There will be a lot of clubs around Europe that’ll want Jack Grealish in the team.”
On whether a move to Europe is better for him now: “I would (move to Europe), I’m not sure what Premier League team would suit him at the moment. Maybe a Spurs, a Newcastle.
“Maybe a team in Italy. He’s 30 this year, I want him to go and enjoy it.”
It should be said that Newcastle already have options out on the left wing. Both Anthony Gordon and Harvey Barnes were key players during the 2024-25 season, while Joelinton and Joe Willock are capable of operating there.
Anthony Gordon problem set to emerge again if Jack Grealish joins Newcastle United
Gordon was selected instead of Grealish for England at Euro 2024, and for good reason indeed.
Over the last two seasons, the Newcastle star has contributed much more in the way of goals and assists.
The issue of Gordon being ahead of him in the pecking order would only repeat itself if Grealish were to come to Newcastle.

That’s not to say the forward couldn’t bring something to Eddie Howe’s squad, just that a natural role for him in his favoured position isn’t obvious.
In Gordon and Barnes, Newcastle have two left-wingers who have proven much more decisive than Grealish over the last few years.
