Kendrick Perkins Calls Out Suns Star To ‘Level Up’ With Another Team

The Phoenix Suns might be on the verge of making some substantial, franchise-shifting changes.

They just hired a new head coach, are likely going to part ways with Kevin Durant, and could make more adjustments.

Will they be saying goodbye to Devin Booker?

Speaking on ESPN, Kendrick Perkins said Booker should think about moving to another team and finding more success because he is “just starting his prime” and shouldn’t waste it in Phoenix.

“[Devin Booker’s] 28 going on 29, so that means he’s just starting his prime. His prime has been activated. I don’t want to ever get to the point where I look at him and call him a loser, but if he comes to a place where he’s okay with being there and not leveling up to go to an organization where you actually could compete for a championship and you’re just ready to stay there bascially for another rebuild? I got a problem with that,” Perkins said, via NBA on ESPN.

Booker, who will turn 29 shortly after next season begins, averaged 25.6 points, 4.1 rebounds, and 7.1 assists in 2024-25.

He is certainly a player who can achieve a lot and could be a regular All-Star, but he has been held back by his team over the last few years.

How long until enough is enough and Booker decides he wants to try his luck with a different squad?

Perkins said the West is only getting tougher, and the Suns will not be higher than the sixth seed next season no matter who they trade for.

Can Booker potentially waste his prime playing for a team that never climbs to the top?

He will probably be with the Suns next season, but if Phoenix doesn’t show a big turnaround, he might be requesting a change of scenery before he hits 30.
