Plenty of players have come and gone through Manchester United’s ranks over the years, with some reaching the heights once expected of them and others fading into journeyman roles across the football pyramid.
While a select few go on to quickly become household names such as Scott McTominay at Napoli, many end up as bit-part figures.
Whether it’s struggling for consistency, fitness, or simply the right club to realise their early promise.

One such example is Axel Tuanzebe.
The 27-year-old was once tipped to become a regular at Old Trafford, having climbed through the youth ranks from U19 to U23 level before making 37 senior appearances between 2016 and 2019.
After moving to Aston Villa in 2019, a stint at Napoli followed in 2021 before a move to Stoke City in 2022.
He joined Ipswich Town ahead of the 2023/24 campaign and has now been offered a new contract by the Premier League newcomers.
Axel Tuanzebe to remain at Ipswich Town
Ipswich confirmed the news in their official retained list, released on the club’s website, with negotiations ongoing to keep Tuanzebe at Portman Road.
The club also confirmed Massimo Luongo and Marcus Harness will leave when their deals expire.
While loanees Jens Cajuste, Julio Enciso, Ben Godfrey, and Kalvin Phillips return to their parent clubs.
Meanwhile, Elkan Baggott has had his contract extended.

The likes of Ali Al-Hamadi, Harry Clarke, and Cameron Humphreys return from loan spells.
Ipswich thanked the departing players and confirmed that Tuanzebe and Cameron Burgess are both in talks over new deals as preparations begin for the 2025/26 campaign.
United fans remember Tuanzebe for his somewhat iconic performance against Kylian Mbappe in the Champions League in 20/21 season.
He may not have worked out at United in the long-term, but he will certainly remembered for that performance.
