Exclusive: Victor Osimhen reaches 'agreement in principle' to join new club after Man Utd links

Napoli striker Victor Osimhen has agreed in principle to join Al-Hilal, having been given a deadline of Friday to decide, although he is yet to communicate this to Napoli or finalise personal terms yet. The parties are now working on doing so, but Osimhen has informed Al-Hilal he is willing to join, and new head coach Simone Inzaghi has already been used as part of the pitch.

The Nigeria international has been offered a net salary worth close to €30million-per-season plus bonuses and could join the Saudi Pro League side in time for the Club World Cup if all goes to plan.

Al-Hilal now have until June 10 to try and finalise a transfer in order to register Osimhen in time for their opening Club World Cup clash against Real Madrid on June 18 in Miami.

Al-Hilal have already made a formal approach to Napoli and, if a deal can’t be agreed, are prepared to trigger his €75million release clause. It's believed Napoli will insist on the full clause being triggered or matched.

Osimhen spent last season on loan at Galatasaray, scoring 37 goals in 41 games. He has 76 goals in 133 games for Napoli and won Serie A in 2022/23 before a fall-out with the club.

Al-Hilal tried to sign Osimhen in 2023, making him three offers, which the Nigerian admitted was "tempting". Last summer, Al-Ahli also came close to landing him, agreeing terms with the player before Napoli asked for a price increase at the last minute, resulting in the Jeddah-based club finalising a deal for Ivan Toney instead.

Osimhen has had several European suitors, including interest from the Premier League, but Al-Hilal are now pushing to finalise a deal, and as quickly as possible to avoid any surprises.

Bruno Fernandes Rejects Al Hilal Proposal to Leave Man Utd

Manchester United midfielder Bruno Fernandes has rejected a move to Al Hilal, according to Fabrizio Romano.

Saudi dealmakers view the 26-year-old as the perfect profile of signing as they look to move away from paying big money for older stars. Jhon Duran is cited as another example of this by insiders, with the 21-year-old joining Al-Nassr from Aston Villa in January.

Al-Hilal are able to move swiftly because centrally allocated budget - originally earmarked to pay Mohamed Salah’s salary had he chosen to leave Liverpool - has been retained by the club, giving them over £500million to work with this window.
