Flamengo want to sign Lucas Paquetá ‘at all costs’ and plan to speak to West Ham United about the midfielder this week.
That’s according to journalist Fabrício Lopes, from the Resenha Rubro-Negra channel, [via Bolavip](https://br.bolavip.com/amp/flamengo/flamengo-quer-lucas-paqueta-de-qualquer-jeito-e-deve-ter-reuniao-com-west-ham-para-fechar-emprestimo), who reports that the Brazilian club are determined to get their former star back.
He explains that Flamengo are keeping a close eye on the 27-year-old’s situation as he continues to wait for the outcome of a two-year investigation into alleged betting offences. That investigation was completed this week, but a decision is not expected for another few months.
Flamengo know that is the West Ham man is acquitted then a deal is unlikely but if he is banned, and banned from playing in England or Europe, then his return could become real.
According to Lopes, Paqueta will appeal if he is found guilty and would be allowed to continue playing in this period anyway. That is a boost for Flamengo, who would have him for a season and a half by their estimations.
Because of this, the Flamengo leadership are planning to meet with West Ham in the next few days to try and push a loan deal for the midfielder through. That’s likely to be a difficult conversation, though, as West Ham would prefer to sell and recover their money.
The conversation is planned, though, with the Brazilian side seemingly unperturbed by the potential ban coming Paqueta’s way.
