**Football fans in Italy have been determined to bring Sandro Tonali back to the country pretty much since he left their shores to join Newcastle United.**
The only time that Tonali hasn't been strongly linked with a return to Italy was during his 10-month suspension from football for breaching gambling laws.
This season, Sandro Tonali has developed into an integral part of Eddie Howe's Newcastle side and has received a lot of votes for the fans' player of the season.
However, despite repeatedly saying he's happy at Newcastle, the rumours linking him with a return to Italy have persisted.

Sandro Tonali wants to maintain the bonds he's created at Newcastle

Now, speaking to Sky Sports Italy (h/t [The Northern Echo](https://www.thenorthernecho.co.uk/sport/25217507.sandro-tonali-sends-clear-message-newcastle-united-future/)), the 25-year-old has made his position perfectly clear, but we can absolutely see which part of what Tonali has said the Italian press will pounce on.
> “I’m happy where I am now. I’ve found people who care about me, and I care about them.“I don’t want to break any of the bonds I’ve built. I’ve had a lot of thoughts every day, but right now, I’m happy where I am.”“Sometimes, when I am away from Italy for a long time or during long breaks, I do miss coming home a bit. But I always come back with the national team and I always give my best.
Sandro is a Geordie!

While to us, as Newcastle fans, we can focus on the fact that Tonali clearly stated he is happy and doesn't want to leave, we can't help but feel that all the Italians will see is the part where he says he misses home.
It doesn't matter in the grand scheme of things, it just means we may have to endure more stories from the Mediterranean suggesting that Sandro Tonali wants to return home.
We all know where his heart lies right now, and next to the murky waters of the River Tyne and the North Sea.
